Thermopod is the next generation of thermodynamic heat pump.

THE PRINCIPLE

The Principle is to harvest the abundant free energy contained in the natural atmosphere and use it to create hot water. The system uses a small amount of electricity to generate a large amount of hot water.

WHERE DOES THE HEAT COME FROM?

The Principle is to harvest the abundant free energy contained in the natural atmosphere and use it to create hot water. The thermodynamic solar assisted heat pump system uses a small amount of electricity to generate a large amount of hot water.

The process uses an ozone safe refrigerant which has a boiling point of -26°C, as the medium to collect the solar heat energy. Two hot water panels are mounted externally, and the refrigerant flows through them in specialised channels maximising the exposure to air temperature, wind, rain or even snow – all of which transfer heat energy into the refrigerant. The refrigerant quickly heats up and expands, changing from a liquid to a ‘super-heated’ gas. Once back at the Bunsen Unit, this heated gas is compressed back to its original state of a liquid. Compressing the gas to a liquid gives of tremendous heat, and this is transferred via a hot water heat exchanger, to your hot water which circulates back into your hot water cylinder.


The two external solar hot water panels have a large overall surface area, allowing many forms of energy to have a positive effect on transferring energy to the refrigerant. Air temperature and sunlight have an increasingly positive effect, however the effect of wind is also highly efficient. Just as you may blow on a hot drink to cool it down, the effect of the wind across the surface of the panels has a tremendous impact on transferring energy to the water heater panels, and therefore the refrigerant. Rain and even snow all add energy to the thermodynamic water panel and transfer instant heat to the refrigerant passing through the panels.

The process is extremely low energy, with just the cost of running a small water pump and the compressor in the unit. The energy is all FREE as it comes from the abundant energy in our natural climate. 

As all forms of our weather’s energies contribute to the transfer of energy, the system is able to work efficiently both day and night, making it an exceptionally attractive solar power system.

THE THERMOPOD WORKS BY HARVESTING FREE ENERGY FROM OUR UK WEATHER, AND TRANSFERRING IT TO YOUR HOT WATER CYLINDER.

The ThermoPod Thermodynamic Hot Water System, works by harvesting FREE energy from our UK weather, and transferring it to your hot water cylinder. The process uses an Ozone safe refrigerant to constantly transfer the free energy from the outside air temperature, wind, rain or snow, to your hot water cylinder

Two separate circuits are created. On the water side, connections are made to allow your cylinder water to pass through the Bunsen | Solar Hot Water Controller, where it absorbs heat energy and heats up your water cylinder.



An Ozone friendly refrigerant, which has a boiling point of -26°C, flows through the solar collector panels and back to the ThermoPod. The refrigerant leaves the ThermoPod Unit as a cold liquid, as it passes through the hot water panels, the refrigerant absorbs heat energy and changes from a liquid to a ‘super-heated’ gas. On returning to the ThermoPod Unit the gas is compressed back to a liquid, and the heat energy is transferred directly to your hot water. 

The thermodynamic hot water panels are made from aluminium, which is both lightweight and an excellent conductor of heat. The dual panels have a large surface area, which increases the energy transfer to the refrigerant liquid. Energy is efficiently transferred by not only the air temperature, but also the wind, rain, sunlight and even the snow, into the refrigerant.

Understanding that multiple natural elements create energy transfer is key to understanding that this system works day and night. The energy from our atmospheric conditions are present 24hrs a day, which is why the ThermoPod   Eco Water Heater continues to function efficiently day or night.
